Our hearts shall find God as the Pacific Ocean to the drops that are our limited affections now. It is there that we shall desire and not be denied. Our hearts shall swell with an inward sweetness that shall never degenerate. Imagine the full satisfaction of our souls with fat and rich spiritual food!
Our faculties shall be renewed, and increasingly so, to enjoy our Sweet Lord. With increasing fervency we will sing, “Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God!” We will rejoice and exult and give him the glory as we are made to enjoy our Bridegroom. For all of eternity our souls shall feast with joy!
It would not be good if our joy was complete here. The attractiveness of Heaven is in the completeness of desire that is there. If our joy was complete here we would never want to go, leaving us without our consummation in the One from whose fullness we have received grace upon grace.
We look to this blessed hope, an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, that is kept for us. Though we are not there yet we are still guarded by God’s power through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed. For the present our life’s task is the fight for joy in our present sufferings.
“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.” - Philippians 3:20-21
