Cry unto the Lord for the relief of your distress. Crying is our expression of deeper pain than any prayer of thanks over a meal. Remember, you are crying to your Father as His child. He is a better King than the king of Persia. How much more gracious will He treat you when your face is full of sadness (Nehemiah 2:1-8)?
It is when the righteous cry that the Lord answers (Psalm 18:6). The Lord does not bring relief for something that is not first painful. Our distresses may surround our heads and wrap around our necks, but He answers (Jonah 2:1-9). As children we naturally cry for our Father to save us. Our pain and suffering may very well be intended to produce more reliance upon the Lord, otherwise we would be proud creatures.
Cry unto the Lord for He is ready to lavish His goodness. He is ready to lavish the riches of His grace from His open and plentiful storehouse. Will our good and merciful Father withhold anything from those that belong to Him (Psalm 84:11) ? You may hastily say that you are one of the wicked because of your distress, but know that He still brings relief when you besmirch His grace and readily answers before you cry (Psalm 31:22, Isaiah 65:24). His goodness is infinitely higher than your anguish. Cry unto Him.
